Professional Background
Professional BackgroundDr. Oscar West is a board-certified cardiologist with more than three decades of experience, providing care at Daytona Heart Group’s DeLand and Orange City locations. He has been with the practice since 1998 and specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, focusing on advanced cardiac imaging.
Dr. West earned his MBBS and BSc from the University of the West Indies Medical School in Kingston, Jamaica. He completed his internal medicine internship, residency, and clinical fellowship in cardiology at Columbia University’s Harlem Hospital Center in New York. Earlier in his career, he practiced medicine in Jamaica before serving as an attending cardiologist and assistant professor at Columbia University.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. West is also a member of the American Heart Association and the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound. He has authored and presented research on coronary artery disease, echocardiography in hypertension, and aortic valve trauma.
